Hello! I am Cooper Featherstone, and this is me:
Background
I was born in Boise Idaho on April 14th, 2002(despite the fact that I never lived there). I was adopted at birth to my loving parents, Paul and Meredeth Featherstone. I did most of my growing up in the small town of Bluffdale Utah. My best friend's name was Dallin Avery. When I was 9 years old, my family decided to move to Redondo Beach California in an effort for my dad to spend more time with our family because living in Utah he had to travel California for work Monday through Friday every week. Moving is hard. It was especially hard for me because I was young and when you move young, it's like leaving behind everything you know. As you can imagine, Utah is very different from California. It took a long time for me to make friends and I never really felt like I belonged. The upside to California was the beach. Living less than 5 blocks from the beach I grew to love the beach, it became one of my favorite places. After 4 years in California, my dad decided to accept an offer to move to Bentonville Arkansas. At first, I loathed the idea of moving again.... and to ARKANSAS? of all places Arkansas? After lots of consideration and a visit to Arkansas, I knew a fresh start was exactly what I needed. I was scared to start at a new school going into freshman year with no friends. It was my biggest fear. Soon after starting school I was grateful for my new friend Cade Webb. He invited me to eat lunch with him and was my first friend in Arkansas. Now I am a senior, just trying to make it through. I have made many friends over the years and I really feel like I belong.
Family
My immediate family consists of five people... My mom whose name is Meredith, my dad whose name is Paul, and my two younger brothers Carter who is 13 years old and Mackay who is 12 years old. I have many cousins from both sides of the family who live all over the place.
Hobbies
Like most people, I have many hobbies... one of my favorite things to do is just hang out with friends as friends are very important to me. If I'm with my friends, I can enjoy just about anything. I love to go swimming. I love to wakeboard and surf in the lake behind our boat. I like to play videogames, but not by myself, I like to play with other people because I just find them boring by myself.
School & Activities
I get pretty good grades... not amazing but good with a weighted 3.7 GPA. My strengths in school have always been math and science as opposed to the more common English and social studies people. My main focus this year and last year has been computer science. I am in a program called Ignite where I have really grown to love technology and coding. Ignite is a student-driven, project-based program where students develop professional skills through internships with Fortune 500 companies and local startups. Ignite Technology allows students to gain real-world experience in artificial intelligence, robotics, cybersecurity, and programming. Currently, I have an internship at JB Hunt where I am helping to refactor some old code they have and write tests for the new code
