Bus 110 Reflection 13

This week we have studied and examined a case study about a successful entrepreneur. I believe that every single entrepreneur will have to find ways to overcome the different types of challenges, as well as take risks. Haykinstated that "the toughest hurdle" he has overcome as a leader was a specific case with a start-up when things did not appear to be heading in the right direction. He said that some individuals got off track and as a result didn't get the outcomes they wanted, saying, "It felt like a failure. It was heartbreaking to have to tell a team of fifteen people who had just put their hearts and souls into this project for the last twelve months of their lives, which we all thought was going to have a big payoff." The most difficult part, as I could see, was that he was continually thinking about the team and their families, and how they would react when they saw what was going on. He knew it might happen, but facing it was something quite different. I feel that this experience really helped him not repeat the same mistakes in the future; even if it is difficult, it is important to make mistakes and learn from them. I believe that being a continuous learner is beneficial since nothing remains constant. As he noted, things change all the time; today is hot on a summer day, and tomorrow may rain on a warm day. It's also crucial to be able to learn from our experiences and what we see happening around us on a daily basis. Everyday adjustments in minor things, I believe, help me create changes in my life, as well as be conscious of what is going on, stay focused on the path, and be able to evaluate my goals and the process.
